I would like to see this as well. I am in the habit of naming all my movies with a very specific naming convention, and I have yet to find a program that would assist me in doing this. My convention looks something like this...
English Movie Title » Part II {Foreign/Alternate Title} (YEAR) (STV/TV/Limited) (Unrated/Extended/Director's Cut) {Subtitled/Dubbed} [+] [Source-Resolution] [VidCodec+AudCodec@Channels].CD1.EXT
- Specify movie title. If movie is titled "Movie Title: Part 2", replace ":" with "»", because you can't use ":" in a filename.
- Specify any alternate/non-English title, non-theatrical info (Unrated/Extended), and special release info (STV/Limited).
- Specify year movie was released ***According To IMDB***. If not known, year = "(0000)".
- Specify {Dubbed} if foreign movie is English-dubbed, or {Subtitled} if movie REQUIRES subtitles at any point.
- Specify rating based on overall quality of video. [-] is VHS/VCD quality. [=] is DVD quality. [+] is HD quality.
- Specify the source of the movie [VHS, HDTV, DVDScr, R5, DVD, BR, HDDVD, BD]. BR=BluRay Rip / BD=BluRay Disc.
- Specify the resolution the movie was encoded at [LQ, SD, 480P, HRHD, 720P, 1080P].
- Specify video codec used (XviD, DivX, H.264, x264, AVC, Etc), Audio codec used (AC3, AAC, MP3, DTS, OGG, Etc),
AND audio channel information (usually 2CH Or 6CH) (videos with MP3/OGG are always 2CH).
So here's what one of my movies looks like:
4 Months, 3 Weeks, And 2 Days {4 Luni, 3 Saptamâni, Si 2 Zile} (2007) (Limited) {Subtitled} [+] [DVD-SD] [x264+AAC@2CH].CD1.MKV
I know with the help of MediaInfo, XBMC Media Companion could easily be used to rename files with this convention. And the idea that DtYer had with using $T ($Y) to output Title (YEAR) could be expanded so that the end user could ultimately have the freedom to name their media with as little or as much information as they wanted. The only things that MediaInfo or XBMC Media Companion wouldn't be able to tell you is whether the movie was a Limited release, what version it is (Unrated/Extended/Etc), and whether or not it is English Dubbed, but you could easily add that information in later if you needed...
