I found this to be very helpful with dvd extras that I did not want in the library.
Am I just being dense or did this go away.

Not quite sure I follow,

If a supported media file is found and cannot be identified then an nfo file is still created, although it is not completely blank, the media tags are intact, and a few fields have tags added that flag the file as a problem for the filters.
The plot is also has an explanation of the error and how to fix.

It should be displayed in the list as usual, just edit to your liking and save.

I just trashed my old versions so I am working from memory.
When you edited a movie there was a button which blanked a nfo.
I used this when I had things like dvd extras which I did not want to show.
It would with one click clear a nfo you could then save and from then on Media
Companion would not rescan the movie. I found it a great help.

I see what you mean, I'm still figuring out what features from the old edit form to include,

For the time being, if you select "edit movie" from the context menu (Right click on the list of movies) then the old menu form is used
