TV Show - Tom and Jerry Empty
PostSubject: [solved] TV Show - Tom and Jerry (4-digit decade in place of season)   TV Show - Tom and Jerry Icon_minitimeMon Apr 12, 2010 1:00 pm

Hey there, I'm a new user of both XBMC and MC, and it's both something I was looking for for ages. So first up, Thanks a lot to the developer(s)!

Now, I've managed to get everything working fine, however now I'm running into trouble with my Tom and Jerry Classic collection.
The problem is since they weren't really individual episodes but shorts, they cannot be organizes in seasons.

TVDB (ID 72860) has them, but there they are organized by decade. I tried renaming them to the "Show Title - 1x01 - Episode Title.ext" matrix and organizing them by decade, but MC just doesn't seem to add the episodes to the show. It finds them alright, but doesn't organize them in the Main Browser under the Show entry.

The log reads:
Working on episode: V:\Series\Tom & Jerry\1940\Tom and Jerry - 1x02 - Midnight Snack (1941).nfo
Looking up scraper options from tvshow.nfo
Could not locate this episode on TVDB, or TVDB may be unavailable

(it's definitely up since i can scrape other shows and get the respective T&J episode in the TVDB browser section)

I have also tried naming the episodes/shorts alike to the TVDB episode listing, which in this case is (decade) - (continuos numbering), to no avail. XBMC doesn't look up the info successfully either.
So, I have tried pretty much everything I can think of.

Any ideas? Any super-obvious search terms I was too stupid to think of?

G'day Ciddi & welcome!

By default MC only handles series & episodes with 2 digits, however it can be modified to handle the 4 digits to understand the years as seasons.

In the TV Preferences, under regex you need to change the first regex from

[Ss]([\d]{1,2}).?[Ee]([\d]{1,2}) to
[Ss]([\d]{1,4}).?[Ee]([\d]{1,2})

(Click on the regex, it appears below - edit it & then choose the edit button to the right - then choose save.)

if you are using the method I prefer to name my series & episodes i.e. S01E01 (or using 4 digits ...S0001E01)

If you want to stick with the 01x01 method, you need to change the second regex from

([\d]{1,2}) ?[xX] ?([\d]{1,2})
([\d]{1,4}) ?[xX] ?([\d]{1,2})

After this change MC will recognize the 4 digit year as a valid season.

Let us know how you get on Smile

Cheers

Thanks for the info Stormyknight. I use Directory Opus for the renaming purposes as it has quite powerful expressions for renaming multiple files. So basically I'll have to rename my files and write an expression in MC to match the results TVDB will give me. Sounds just like I expected.

I made the mistake to interpret the list on TVDB wrong; The list (when listing ALL episodes) goes "1940 - 1 Puss Gets The Boot" so I figured that's what my filename should be like. Now I realized (after comparing it to a different show list on TVDB) that was actually "Season - Episode [TAB] Title".

Then it's actually quite easy since MC already has the expression allowing up to four digits in both Season and Episode denominators;

Tom and Jerry - 1940x01 - Puss Gets the Boot (1939)

does the job perfectly! Thanks a lot!

Just remember that MC can rename too.....

So in your example just name the episode 1940x01.avi, since that is all MC requires to find the correct episode, the text is irrelavent & is not used at all. Now let MC scrape it (get the details from TVDB) & then right click on the TV Show or series in MC & choose rename. MC will rename it & the associated files according to the preset filename format you have set in the TV preferences.

One of which is...

Show Title - 1x01 - Episode Name.ext

(@Billy, I assume that a 4 digit series name will be written correctly as a filename here?)

Cheers
