zero kb AVI file created for offline DVDs Empty
PostSubject: zero kb AVI file created for offline DVDs   zero kb AVI file created for offline DVDs Icon_minitimeSat Jul 24, 2010 7:44 am

I'm have a problem with the Media Companion gen2 3.317.

It will not create an avi file that says to insert the DVD.

Instead it creates a zero KB avi file. The zero KB avi will not play. It only shows a black frame.

I've setup a offline folder on a network share to use for my offline Blurays.

/music/offline-movies

with a sample movie folder

/music/offline-movies/I've Loved You So Long (2008)

Media companion hangs scraping the folder.

Inside the folder are created:

A zero kb AVI file
I've Loved You So Long (2008).avi

I've Loved You So Long (2008).nfo 6KB
I've Loved You So Long (2008).tbn 107KB
I've Loved You So Long (2008)-fanart.jpg 339KB

Inside the Media Companion Settings folder sixteen jpg files are created from the fanart.
1280 x 720 and 124KB
these are named 001.jpg to 016.jpg

I did some further testing of my problem.

Using Media Companion 3.262, I discovered that a DOS window opens and says the avi file already exists and do I want to overwrite it. If I say yes it creates a working avi file.

For some reason a zero KB avi is getting created before FFMPEG.exe is ready to encode the avi using the fan-art.

In new versions of Media Companion the DOS window is hidden and I don't get the error message so Media Companion hangs waiting because the zero KB avi file exists and there is no way to get the user input to go ahead and overwrite the zero KB avi file.
