Billy, the current TV Show view is best for fanart/posters but not ideal for fanart/Banners.

Could there be a setting in the preferences to enable the view to have two panes on top of each other to better show these two pictures?

I would think it would only need to be a setting for all shows, rather than each show since the XBMC skin will be optimised for banners or posters irrelevant of the show.

Hopefully this will not introduce some new split container difficulties Smile

Cheers

+1 for stormy request.

I'm a user of Banners, but have a couple questions? Is possible to have both posters and banners for shows so that when you change through various Views you can choose either posters or banners?

Perhaps another option would be to show poster banner and fanart possibly with the banner sitting on top of the fanart or on top of both fanart and poster.

That is actually a good idea, easy to implement.

I've just tested this, and the splitter setting still applies either way, just a matter of adding an option in the preferences.

Not sure about the mixture though, ultimately, XBMC can only scrape a single poster.

Gotta wonder about season posters aswell, on TVDB the vast majority of shows do not have banners for seasons.

I'd just been thinking about this as I re-scanned into XBMC my collection due to a SVN DB update on mymovies.db Smile

Wide banners is my default choice and I'm having to go through at the moment and delete the folder.jpg that MC is creating and copy & paste the seasons-all.tbn to folder.jpg for simple XBMC thumbnailing.

Billy just a bump on this one, being able to rearrange the MC screen to better suit banner or posters...

Cheers

PS....My current XBMC skin shows the season poster at the top of the page so a banner works best here, but the seasons are best in the normal poster format.....

So if in MC, I was able to choose one view format that suits banners, it will not suit posters.......unless MC automatically changes the view to suit. I'm not sure how well that will work however.....it may be too distracting?

Also I noticed that in the TV preferences, if I select "Default TV Show Thumbnails" as Banner, when i go to change the Poster the tick is always in the selection for posters & has to be unticked to show banners......

I don't know the best way around this short of having separate preferences for TVShows vs Seasons.

Some people would want
...TVShows & Seasons to be Posters
...TVShows to be Posters & Seasons to be Banners
...TVShows to be Banners & Seasons to be Posters
...Both TVShows & Seasons to be Banners

Thoughts?

Cheers

TV Show Layout - Banner vs Poster Empty
PostSubject: Re: TV Show Layout - Banner vs Poster   TV Show Layout - Banner vs Poster Icon_minitimeMon May 03, 2010 1:20 pm

I am getting around to these sort of things.

At the moment I will be concentrating on generating data for missing episodes, and perhaps allow listing of up and coming episodes.

There are a number of issues that are apparent for the horizontal split that I need to work out. As you have said there is going to be a fair ammount of switching between banner and none banner view.

I thought that it would only be Show posters being banners, I had a look on TVDB and I could not find any season banners.

Either way, the display will need to be much more dynamic to be able to nicely display banners and posters, with the ability to switch.

Any news on this?

I would like to have the option to download both, posters and banners for TV shows so that I can change the desired view in XBMC later on.

Thank you!
