PostSubject: Error 'FFMPEG.exe has stopped working'   Sun Oct 10, 2010 10:25 pm

Hi Billy,

I just updated to the latest version (3.4 I believe) to see if it would fix my problem but it didn't.

For some video files whenever ffmpeg tries to create a screenshot I till get a Windows error that tells me that ffmpeg has stopped working. Unfortunately I don't get any other details.

after I close ffmpeg, I get an exception in MC as follows:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Let me know if you need me to upload the file somewhere or if you need any other information.

Here is a solution. It looks like MC ships with a very old version of FFMPEG.

Here's what I did to update mine and get past this error.

Backup the existing ffmpeg.exe. I renamed mine to ffmpeg.exe.orig

Go to this site and download the Latest Static Build for Win32 (I run on Win64 too but the Win32 builds are what worked for me):
http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/autobuilds/

Unzip the 7z file using 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)

In the bin directory, find ffmpeg.exe and copy it into your MediaCompanion directory.

After doing that, I've not had the error.
