Potentially new problems with build 3.400

About half my movies folders now have a phantom .AVI file with zero Kb in it and my other files in those folders seem to have been renamed to the movie name without the year (I name all my files <movie (year)>.xxx). This new Phantom file has the movie name and year as its name like the rest of my files used to. This is causing XBMC to have double entries for all my films...half tagged and half not.

Could this have happened with the new build?

All the new .AVI files were created on 10/19/2010 and I downloaded the new version on 10/18/2010.

There is also a tempoffline.ttt file in all my folders now, also created on 10/19/2010 with the same time stamp as the .AVI files. Is this file created by MC now?

This I believe has something to do with the offline movie feature of MC. Offline movies are defined as movies like DVD's or Bluray's where the actual movie file is not in a folder. The way it works is a folder is named the same as the movie & MC then locates the fanart for that movie & then creates a short avi of that fanart with words to the effect of please load movie title to play.

MC knows the difference between offline movies & online movies by the preferences section. Each has a separate section to define which folders are which.

Of course offline & online movies need to be in different root folders so that MC knows which is which. Perhaps this is what has happen to yours?

The ttt file is used temporarily during the creation of the offline movie & a zero byte avi also indicates for some reason that MC was unable to create the file correctly....

This can be caused if no fanart could be found........

Can I get you to check your folder settings & report back...

That sounds like what happened...I just don't know why.

The 'offline movie folders' list is totally empty.

All my folders are in the 'movie folders' section.

Any idea on how to reverse this? I now have about 5000 files on my server that need to be deleted which are scattered across over 1000 folders.

Can this happen again?
