Purge old content Data Empty
PostSubject: Purge old content Data   Purge old content Data Icon_minitimeThu Nov 20, 2008 4:31 pm

Well, after 6 days, Media Companion has finished scraping my movies (I have 4TB, about 5000 files).

I am running the latest release of XMBC on a softmodded xbox.

The original xbox scrape of my files returned some errors. Similarly named movies were often seen as the wrong movie. Media Companion has done a much better job at identifying the correct title for my movies and has downloaded the correct thumbs and info for them.

However, on the xbox, it prefers to use the old incorrect thumbs and info instead of loading the .tbn & .nfo files.

Is there any way to force XBMC to throw out it's old data and use the new stuff.

Oddly enough, I have made custom thumbs for a few items and simply placing the tbn in the directory has been enough to override the xmbc scraper's version. I don't know why this is different.

Any ideas?

the best way to do it in xbmc would be to clean out the whole library and rescrape. it should get the info from the nfo files, so it shouldn't take as long (although it took forever last time i did it). you can just delete myvideos.db and all the files in UserData/Thumbnails/Video

Hi, I did this last night and think I may have screwed things up good. I went itno the UserData/Thumbnails/Video folder and deleted all the contents. The contents essentially contained a number of 'numbered' directories (i.e. 2, 6, 12). Inside each directory were tbn files.

So, I deleted the contents of the video directory (but not the video directory itself). I then went and removed my top level content directory by changing the content type to None. The XBMC message then said that it would remove the contents from this path, I said okay. I then went and re-set the content to Video and used IMDB to scrape. All my movies on the PC have an NFO and TBN file associated with them (as created by Media Companion). At the end of the scrape, not a single thumbnail was displayed, and some of the program names in library mode are programs I don't have (which leads me to belive that when the path was re-scraped that it didn't use the NFO and TBN files).

Does anyone have some suggestions on getting XBMC to populate my library with the NFO and TBN files that I previously created via Media Companion?

Thanks!

Are you using Atlantis Final?

Up until Atlantis Beta2, when you added a new source & also did an automatic scan at this time, XBMC would load the nfo if it was present, but then do an internet scrape straight afterwards, thus overwriting the nfo information.

In addition & this only applies to TV Shows as far as I know...if your library was created on Beta2 or earlier, it will not recognise any new episodes using nfo's as being from the same TV show.

To fix this.....select on the TV series name, TV Information, Refresh, All episodes. It will reload the TV Show nfo & use that & all your current episodes will be removed. Now choose Scan for New Content & all your new episodes should appear. The library is now fixed for that TV Show.

Ideally when you install Atlantis Final you should recreate your library from scratch.

Cheers
Richard

Thanks for the feedback. No, haven't made the jump to Atlantis yet. I did an update library command tonight and all my NFO and TBN files are now used. Looks like it went to scrape IMDB first, then when update library was used, it used my NFO and TBN files.
