Problem with Thumbnails for Files? Empty
PostSubject: Problem with Thumbnails for Files?   Problem with Thumbnails for Files? Icon_minitimeMon Mar 23, 2009 10:51 am

First off, I think the media companion is a great start for setting up the XBMC library. I have small problem through, I added a folder and it scraped the movie info correctly from IMDB and saved the nfo and thumbnail files in the respective folder. However when I scanned the folder into XBMC, the folder list displays the folder.jpg file correctly but on opening the folder the actual AVI file itself does not have a thumbnail associated with it.

When I do a scan with just XBMC without the media companion it's able to associate a thumbnail with both the folder and the avi file successfully. Can you help please?

I'm not the best person to answer this because I have my movies sharing a folder but the tbn file shows correctly.

But I seem to remember that posters only display in library mode when using your system.

If i'm wrong then im sure someone will correct me. Wink

The posters display even in the regular mode for the folders. Could you let me know how do I check the tbn file to see whether all info present. Sorry if I am being a noob.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean, if you mean in wondows then just open the tbn in an image viewer, it will display ok.
If you mean in XBMC then it is all automatic, but you can view available thumbs by selecting change thumb from the info menu.

if you have all your movies in seperate folders with their respective data then the tbn has to be named the same as the avi/mpg or whatever format you use....

ie:

movie folder
-dark night folder
--dark night.avi
--movie.nfo
--dark night.tbn
--folder.jpg

If that is the case then you need to report it to the XBMC team, according to my information movie.tbn is an acceptable naming convention for movies in their own folders.

this is from xbmc...

Examples for User-Defined Video Thumbnails

Single Video File

The following example "videofilename.avi" will now use the thumbnail "videofilename.tbn".

Videos\path\videofilename.tbn
Videos\path\videofilename.avi

Multi Part (Stacked) Video Files

You can either use the filename of the first file in the stack or the name of the stack, so for:

Movies\path\moviename-CD1.avi
Movies\path\moviename-CD2.avi

Either of the below would work:

Movies\path\moviename-CD1.tbn
Movies\path\moviename.tbn

Movie

If content has been set to Movies, movie.tbn will override any other thumbs for media in that folder. In he following example "videofilename.avi" will now use the thumbnail "movie.tbn".

Videos\path\movie.tbn
Videos\path\videofilename.avi"

you would be correct it would seem...
when i tried movie.tbn it xbmc did not automatically pull images but when i renamed it to the movietitle.tbn then xbmc pulled the image right away.
