swappable config files Empty
PostSubject: swappable config files   swappable config files Icon_minitimeThu Jan 01, 2009 12:28 am

I have over 1000 movies and 1000 tv shows that are too cumbersome to work with all at once so I have them in four config.xml files names as follows.

config.xml - The active or working config file
aconfig.xml
bconfig.xml
cconfig.xml

When I want to work on a new config file I stop media companion, rename conifg.xml to dconfig.xml and the one I want to work on to config.xml then restart media companion. It would be nice to be able to pick which config file you wanted to work on inside the program and have it reinitialize and instead of having to stop and rename.

Thanks for the great program. Very Happy

OH yeah, I requested this a couple days ago and hoping it is a quick modification.

I have a large monitor and if it is not too much trouble would like to be able to resize the coverart window so I could see all the images without having to use the scroll bar. I think I could fit 20 coverart posters at a time if I could resize the window. (30" dell monitor)

I'm reasonably sure I've asked for "profiles" as well, if not it is certainly on my wish list.

I'll look into adding profiles of a kind,

I think initially this will only be for folders with the user able to select different combinations of folders for each profile.

I would also like some feedback on what other options are really needed for seperate profiles.

@lawina900
You will be able to resize the coverart window from the next build

Well for mine, changing folders would be a start but ideally it should cover all options, basically config.xml could simply contain a point to the "current" profile/config and media compantion continues to work as it does now with only minor changes such as the "pointer" to the current profile.xml (which looks exactly like "config.xml" does now) and when the users changes profiles the program needs to reload the next config (and set pointer for next startup).

Maybe profile configs start with "Profile_" and these are iterated to display a list to the user when changing profile.
