Initial Feedback on 2.102 Empty
PostSubject: Initial Feedback on 2.102   Initial Feedback on 2.102 Icon_minitimeFri Jan 16, 2009 12:18 am

Hi,

1. I was hoping that the Genre filter would (a) not show genre that are not used by any of my movies and (b) would support my custom genres (I use ones to indicate I've seen it and that it won't play on my media device).

2. It would be good to include OR exclude by filter (a checkbox under filter dialog)

3. May want a reset filter button and/OR a disable filter checkbox next to the filets button (would also double as visual indication that filter is applied)

4. You can't tell when something is filtered (filter applied). Instead of saying "Total Movies = 20", why not "Showing 5 of 20 movies".

5. In settings you say "none compatible" instead of "non co...".

6. Why not just ALWAYS create log files in the users "temp" directory and the option is to display or not display at end.

7. I was hoping the text" search issues would be included in this release, but if this is not going to be changed soonish can we at least not include "the" at the start of the movie as a match UNLESS the search text starts with it (in which case it should also look at it with and without the "the" (effectively ignoring the "the".

8. I just changed to Australian ratings, on the creen it still says "MPAA", probably better to say "Rating:"

9. If the delete media button deletes everything (which I don't like), then its tooltip needs to be updated!

10. I haven't tried it yet but from the release info you haven't included directory exclusion?

Anyway thanks for the update, I'll play with it some more.

I can't change any movie details as it always traps saying file in use by another process (it is not, and rescraping works just to prove it):

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
=====================

UPDATE: It only happens if you use newlines in the plot and after that occurs whether you use newlines or not until you restart the program.

Your disconnected drive fix isn't working or doesn't cover all cases, when my USB (T:) is truned off I get:

1) Maybe at some point in the future, it's not a very high priority

2) Why, you can get the same results as it stands

3) I agree, I'll add something

4) As 3

5) It now says "non-compliant", thats what I intended

6) Maybe, I added the disable option at a suggestion from users.

7) I'm not sure what your talking about, could you give me more information

Cool Rating already exists referring to score (x/10) How about something like "Cert"

9) I agree with you on this one, I don't like having this functionality, to be fair though the dialogue is very clear about what will be deleted, and the recycle bin is used. I've updated the tooltip.

10) Not yet.

And for the errors, I haven't touched the TV Show handling yet so any existing errors remain, I have a lot of ideas on improving this and I expect to be starting in the next few weeks once i'm happy that most of the bugs in the movie section are eliminated.

I've fixed the error causing the file in use error.

Maybe but is a lot harder.

Well I don't want to argue grammer as thats not what I'm good at.

billyad2000 wrote:

I thought you had an option not to log or display the output. What I suggested is that it always log so if you really care you can go and look but the option only says whether you want it presented to you in a popup at the end.

This is where I suggest an alternative (filtering) approach:

https://billyad2000.darkbb.com/feature-requests-f4/i-d-like-the-search-field-to-exclude-non-matches-t239.htm#814

The second post describes what I think is a bug.

billyad2000 wrote:

Sounded good at the time :-) Ideally I'd like to know what rating was being displays as now I have a few Australian and a million "MPAA".

OK I forgot that the same issue would apply to TV info.

I see what you want now but I don't see it happening like you wish, relisting the combobox after each input would be very slow. I do know applications that do it, but usually these are limited to small lists, not 100s or 1000s of items.

I could perhaps include a text option as a filter.

I don't know if its possible to disable/hide specific combobox items rather than recreating (tried googling but don't know enough), in any case if you do allow for a search filter that would be great, hopefully you would not pout this under the dialog as that could get painful!

As for the movie information not being updated, is that a bug or feature?

Thanks,

Search and sorting are sorely missing, are you intending to add these at some stage?

Thanks
