v2.131 bug - multiple rar movies are not scrapped.

when scanning and I have more than one rar movie listed under a movie folder. Somehow mc does not scape them. In my plus 200 folder the rar movies do not get scrapped but MC does see them. This is the complete out put log of the scraper. It somehow stops... Everything else works...

It scraped all files without issue.

I have had several reports about this happening and not just to rar files, but I am unable to duplicate it. Maybe you could tell me your exact setup, folder paths, filenames, etc. Until I can duplicate this error it is very difficult to fix.

It scrapes the single movie directory fine on its own. But When I scrape my total movie folder it is not found. I am trying to figuere out why. I need some time to try different things. I will get back on it. it is 200+ movies each in its own directory.

I just downloaded v2.135, and out of the blue it scans the movies it was refusing/ ignoring. Sometimes it just happens...thanx again.

Im working on it

I narrowed it down using MC v2.135

My test directory structure:

-Movies
* Click
* meet the parents
* MR & Mrs Smith
* the bourne supremacy

Each folder contains a .nfo with the IMDB ID. I am not using "use folder names".

In settings I have only use "rename non compliant nfo" and "check .info for IMDB ID".

When I have MC scrape (having added "movies" as source) it will only scrape MR& MRs Smith and the bourne supremacy. NEVER Click or meet the parents....never

HOWEVER, if I remove the folder "Click" everything gets scraped 100%, i.e. all three movies. just like that, including meet the parents. Putting the "Click" movie folder back, it does not work, it does not scrape the movie Click and not meet the parents.

The "Click" movie is a rar archive:

CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.nfo (with only IMDB ID)
CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part01.rar (20MB)
up to
CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part62.rar


I deleted ALLL .rar files from the "click" directory leaving only
CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.nfo (with only IMDB ID)
CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part01.rar (20MB)

et voila, ALL movies get scraped fine including "CLICK" and meet the parents!!. Copying the rars I removed (parts 2 through 62) back again in the "click" directory and MC gets lost.
This is reproduceable over and over, on different disk drives and servers..AS it turns out, MC starts to scrapes incorrectly when the amount of .rar files is above CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part19.rar. Adding CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part20.rar back into the movie directory "click"it goes all wrong, removing CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part20.rar and MC is back to its happy self. Somehow the amount of rar files is influencing the scraping result.

Other .rar movies do however scrape correctly, but they have different formats, ie. "moviename.partxxx.rar" whilst here we have "moviename.partxx.rar"

I understood that the rar handeling only looked at the first rar,i.e. CLCK-xvid-ac3-MaLLaT.part01.rar but somehow the existence of more .rar files influences the behavior of MC.

Would you try this version please

Hi Billy, yes it works (version 2.139)
just a few minor glitches:

MC now also scans and makes an .nfo file for EVERY .rar it finds, i.e. it is no longer excluding .rar files <10MB. Consequently, it is scanning all my .rar subs which I have in the movie folders (XBMC can read subtitle files storred in .rar format). It should ignore .rars say smaller <10MB.

Related to this:
Where I have .rar movies like moviename.partxxx.rar, running from part001 through part091 it scans and finds the correct "moviename" but also it for some reason now scans moviename.part0091.rar (so the final rar file of the set) and creates an .nfo "moviename.part0091.nfo". This is always the final of a .rar set where all parts are 50mb save the final part which is 5mb in my case. If final rar part is bigger , in my case 30MB, MC correctly ignores it.

v2.135 also appears to pick up subtitle rar files in the sub folder and try to create movies - I have many many copies of Sabs (1996) - however in doing this it has not found all of them and has missed some actual movie folders... Maybe we can have a switch to disable scanning of rars (as some of us do not keep movies in rar format)?

The solution is to only scan rars above for example 10mb - I think this was the intention of Billy and he will implement it when he has time

I'm looking at it now, i'll hopefully have a fix for you to try later today.

I removed all scrape info from my rars and used version 2.141 against it. All my my earlier reported issues are gone.
