What happened to .info file support? Empty
PostSubject: What happened to .info file support?   What happened to .info file support? Icon_minitimeWed Aug 12, 2009 7:28 am

Version 2 contained the ability to create a moviename.info file, insert the IMDB url for the movie, thus allowing for a perfect lookup for movies. There was an option within the OPTIONS section to enable .info support.

Version 3 appears to have removed this option! I have over 400 movies with matching .info files to allow for accurate lookup. Can this option be reinstated into version 3?

Thanks for a GREAT product!

I think you are mistaken

Version 2 had the ability to have the IMDB within the moviename.nfo file, the option was to rename existing .nfo files to .info for those that wanted to keep the scene nfo files.

BTW, version 3 has both these features.

Hmmm, OK, I must be really confused on how these options work. Maybe you can set me straight :-)

Looking at my version 2.291 "General" screen, I see:
[ ] - Rename non-compliant scene .nfo files to .info
[ ] - During scan for new movies, Try to find IMDB ID in an available .info file <-- (I don't see this in version 3)

Looking at the version 3.087 "General" screen, I see:
[ ] - Rename non-compliant scene .nfo files to .info

Previously, I could name my movie files whatever I wanted (example):
Bourne Movie 1 - The Bourne Identity.avi
Bourne Movie 2 - The Bourne Supremacy.avi
Bourne Movie 3 - The Bourne Ultimatum.avi

As long as I had a corresponding "Bourne Movie 1 - The Bourne Identity.info" file, which contained the IMDB Http link to this movie, movies would always scrape perfectly, creating a new .nfo file with the movie details, and leaving the .info untouched.

Version 3 doesn't appear to be looking at the IMDB information in the .info file for scraping. With version3 , are you saying I simply need to put the IMDB http link into an empty "moviename.nfo" file (for new movies), MC will scrape it based on this information, and then rename the .nfo file with the IMDB link in it, to a .info file (that i won't need anymore)?

If so, that works just as well for me! I just liked having a reliable way to specify EXACTLY what IMDB link to use for scraping my new movies, regardless of what the movie is named.

Thanks again for helping me better understand this feature! Again, GREAT program!!

You don't need to have the .nfo renamed to .info, the default is to overwrite it with the standard xml format.

And yes, just create an nfo file that contains the IMDB within it and it will return the correct movie. The reason that MC works this way is that many movies that people obtain already come with an nfo file that usually contains within it such an ID. As you say, this assures the correct movie is scraped.

I did not remember doing the .info option. I suppose I could add it, but I don't really see the need.

For reference, MC can also pick the ID out of a filename
eg
The Dark Knight (tt0468569).avi

Ah, perfect! Thanks. Based on this, I have no need for the additional .info file support then. Thanks again.
