What does MC do with existing .nfo's? Empty
PostSubject: What does MC do with existing .nfo's?   What does MC do with existing .nfo's? Icon_minitimeSat Jan 31, 2009 2:16 pm

Hi,
I'm looking at MC and it seems like a great time/frustration saver for annotating my movie library for XBMC, but I have a few questions:

Because the IMDB scraper in XBMC has been disabled, I created an imdb.nfo file in the folder of each movie, containing only "imdb: <imdb link>". In some folders I have scene .nfo files instead.
As I understand it, MC creates a new XML based .nfo file in each movie's folder, but what does MC do with the existing .nfo's? Are they removed? If they are not, how does XBMC know which one to pick?

Also, should I turn off scraping in XBMC?

None XML nfo files such as scene .nfo's are ignored by Media Companion.

If you do a scan then one of two things can happen

Default :- the existing none complent nfo is checked for IMDB ID and overwritten with a compiant XML .nfo
or
If you select it in the preferences the file will be renamed with the extension ".info". MC also checks this for an IMDB ID

Taking the IMDB ID from a scene .nfo ensures that the correct movie is scraped

I can't find the option to keep my existing nfo's either? I would like the keep my original nfo files or have them renamed. I've noticed so far that the original nfo files get overwritten Sad

Ah... I've just noticed the link in your signature which links to a page with newer versions. I downloaded the version which was listed on the Download page on the main site (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/billy.adamson1/download.htm).
