Explaination for Error Message, Scanning New Media

Media Companion v2.135 and v2.141

I'm working on getting info on my TV Shows out of thetvdb.

Here is an example list of files:

My regex.xml (Located with the Media Companion EXE):

When I do a media search the log says something similar to this for each episode:

Code:: Found For TV Show :- Aria the Animation, Episode :-c:\documents and settings\bill\desktop\tv shows\ARIA\Season 01\[CrystalNova]ARIA_The_ANIMATION_-_01_[391BFA6F].nfo
No Season and/or Episode Information Was Returned For This Episode

I'm not sure why it says ".nfo" on the end of the file, but the file as can be seen is an avi. What's that about? I've seen many posts about sucessful use of Regexes in regex.xml, what am I doing wrong?

The .nfo is what the resulting file will be saved as, it has no relevance to the regex

You need to create a working regex that returns the season and episode no

For the filename & path
c:\documents and settings\bill\desktop\tv shows\ARIA\Season 01\[CrystalNova]ARIA_The_ANIMATION_-_01_[391BFA6F].nfo
using the regex
Season ([0-9]+)[\\/][-_ p.]([0-9]{2})[-_ (v.\[]([0-9]{2})?[^\\/]*
returns zero results for season or episode

For tv episodes named as above then a simple regex such as :-
Season ([0-9]+)[^>]*_([0-9]+)_
will work fine, although you may wish to refine this to be more or less inclusive/exclusive

Thanks for the explaination. I relealize now that my regex line was malformed and I overlooked something in that in the original line it was expecting nothing between the directory identified (\ or /) and the begining of the episode number. I have now fixed it with your help and come to the conclusion of this line here:

Code:: Season ([0-9]{2})[\\/].*[-_ p.]([0-9]{2})[-_ (v.\[]([0-9]{2})?[^\\/]*

This line is much longer than yours because it includes many more variations of the characters that surround the episode number in many files of varying formats. Also it includes support for double episode filenames.

Now onto the next issue. Here is a log output for one of several episodes that appear as duplicates on the list on the left hand side from the three seasons of this show in particular:

The link does indeed end up broken.

It produces an NFO file for the episode which contains this:

Code:: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

And when it displays the episode numbers and names it takes the episode from the next episode so in this example it looks like there are two episode 4's.

I deleted the nfo and did another media search and it results in the same error and the same symptom.

I have also another show that is coming up with a broken link, but this one is definitely invalid because it contains spaces.

This is again a regex problem, its returning Season 1, Episode 40505, there is no such episode on TVDB

The space is not the issue, the space is just being appended on the output log, it's not causing the issue.

This time you are trying to get Season 02, Episode 17
A quick look at TVDB shows that Season 2 of "Black Lagoon" (TVDB ID 79604) only has 12 episodes, it can't return info from a non existant episode.

To breakdown the URL
/series/ 79604/default/2/17/en.xml

"79604" is the Show ID, in this case it is "Black Lagoon"
"default" refers to the sort order and is usually the aired order, the alternative is "DVD"
"2" refers to season 2
"17" refers to episode 17

A quick look on TVDB shows that this episode does not exist
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=79604&seasonid=17213&lid=7

Thank you. I apologize for not being critical enough in my review of the information. Now that you point it out it's blatantly obvious that with the black lagoon episode is named incorrectly to be considered for the naming convention I had assumed would be appropriate. I'll look around and see what my options are.

Here is more of the log from the first instances of an improper URL. It seems there is a discrepancy in the information that is displayed and the information that is in the URL:

It says that it found the proper episode but searches for something found in the checksum. Which, as far as I understand regex, isn't possible because I limit the digit findings to no more than 3 characters long.

The current regex that i'm using is this:

It can be seen that even in Season One the application is unable to get episode information from thetvdb.org, however, after removing the spaces from the URL it functions as expected and displays an XML file in my browser.

I'm rewriting the TV Show handling at the moment, I will look into the issues you are having.

The code is in pieces at the moment so it may be a couple of weeks before a build is ready.

Cool. That sounds great. As a work around, for right now i've gotten XBMC to scrape the data, and then I used a newer SVN that's available to export the video library to "Single Files" which writes the NFO, TBN and such to the directories. Then I line up Media Companion to look at the root folder and it picks up all of the data properly.
