TV Show Scraping Trouble Empty
PostSubject: TV Show Scraping Trouble   TV Show Scraping Trouble Icon_minitimeTue Mar 31, 2009 8:16 pm

Hello, all. I'm having a problem scraping for TV show information. I've seen people with similar problems...but none of the solutions that have been mentioned seem to work for me...and I haven't seen any posts with the exact error message that I'm getting. So, I hope I'm not duplicating a post, and if I am, I'm sorry.

I've pointed Media Companion at the folder with my TV Shows. Each TV show has a folder and [for the most part] each show folder has season folders with episodes inside. [I should mention that I'm using this in conjunction with XBMC. This naming convention works with XBMC; I'm just trying to perform the scraping outside of XBMC.]

I ran the TV show scraper and it found all the shows, but no episodes. After reading some posts here, I tried downloading a newer version of the software. So now I'm running MC 2.209. I ran 'Scan for New TV Shows' and the dialog that came up after it finished looked like this:

Quote :

TVDB Scraper Language is :- English
TVDB Scraper API Language Code is :- en
TVDB Scraper Episode Order Is Set At :- dvd
Overwrite Thumbnails Is :- False

Starting Scan For New TV Epsiodes

Actors to Be Scraped From TVDB
498 New Episodes Found

The Following episodes are in the queue:-

Found For TV Show :- 24, Episode :-s:\24\Season 06\s06e01.nfo
Season :- 6
Episode :- 1
URL For Episode :- http://thetvdb.com/api/6E82FED600783400/series/76290/dvd/6/1/en.xml
Unable To Get Episode Information, Trying Default Episode Order
Unable To Get Episode Information from TVDB

...and that 'Found for TV Show' bit continued on for each episode. I have a rather complex filesystem setup going on here...but the program does have write access to the folders. [It created the tvshow.nfo files and such.] I initially thought that was the problem, but this error message has me confused. I'm hoping something here will make sense to someone and they can help me.

By the way, I'm loving the program...I can't wait to fix this issue of mine; I'm very excited to use it. Thanks for all your hard work.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Sincerely,
Christopher David YUDICHAK

Under the category of 'You should have tried that first'...I just noticed that the URL in that error log does not successfully direct to a page. Could that be the issue? And if so, how would I go about fixing it? Any idea...or am I horribly off? hehe Thanks...and sorry.

And again, under the category of 'You should have tried that before trying any of those other things', now I see the thetvdb.com is currently down...and I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that's why this isn't working.

My sincerest apologies...go ahead and remove this post. But thanks for the help you would have provided if I had a real problem. hehe

If only everyone would answer their own questions Smile

You are right, TVDB is down at the moment.

I just wanted to post back that after thetvdb.com came back yesterday afternoon, I ran Media Companion again...and it worked like a charm.

Now, I'm having a separate issue, but I haven't searched through the forums yet on that one. If I don't find anything, I'll be sure to make a new post for it. Thanks again.
