Possible table type listview for MC

DaGnome has raised the possibility in my mind for a table style view for MC, and I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.

Constraints within MC would mean several things,

The biggest issue would be how to implement it, and the only realistic way in my mind would be to create another 'tab' for this purpose, giving us in effect 3 ways of viewing our collections:

1. The main browser
   
2. The Wall, poster view
   
3. A Table view
   

The purpose of this post is to ask the question, is this a function that is wanted, and if it is, what data and functionality would I include within this table/tab.

Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, so long as the columns can be user selectable & the width of the column widths can be adjusted/remembered. In addition it may be handy to show some user defined xml tags to make it more powerful.

The way I see the benefits of a table, is that it allows you to either compare multiple entries or sort your entries more easily by all available column fields. In addition it may be easier to change multiple things at once....such as selecting multiple files & choosing watched or unwatched.

In addition a table column assigned to artwork could display quickly & efficiently if artwork existed or not.

Most music related programs use the table method for the above reasons too.

Issues? - Long fields will be difficult to show such as summary & plot...but some users may only wish to show the movie name & the plot in their table.

I kinda see the main tab as a viewer with some editing & the table perhaps as the advanced editor......
