episodes not scraping

Hey all!

I am a semi-new user to both XBMC and MC. I've looked around a lot for my issue and have not found anything that has seemed to help. I'm adding in TV Shows to be scraped. Scrubs and Family Guy scraped both show, seasons and episodes flawlessly. However, Kaze no Stigma, Fullmetal Alchemist and other anime shows will not scrape the episodes. It does not give an error and the log file says it was successfully scraped but no .nfo files are created and the episodes do not register. However they are all listed with tvdb. I even tried renaming conventions with no successful results. Any suggestions?

The biggest cause of episodes not scraping is that the sort order is set to dvd when that list does not exist,

You can toggle the sort order from dvd to default using the toggle button located under the fanart/poster when viewing the main tv show details.

If you still cant get the episodes to scrape, let me know the show id, and episode filenames you are having issues with.

Billy is there some way to add to the status bar in addition to the filename being scraped but the detected series & episode number?

&....would it be easy to implement a "show log file on error" option. At the moment the log files are either off or on & since most episodes are found, most people I would suspect would turn the log off as it is annoying being on all the time, but the option to show it on error would be handy I think.

I'm having trouble with several so I'll just list 1 for example.

You need to use a supported naming convention for MC to work, there is no way for MC to identify the season number from those filenames, It may be that the season number is located in the path details, but you would need to add a custom regex for it,

To use the built in regex then you will need to rename the files to either of the following:
Kaze no Stigma S01E01 - The Wind Returns.mkv
Kaze no Stigma 01x01 - The Wind Returns.mkv
Kaze no Stigma 101 - The Wind Returns.mkv

I've had the same problem with one particular show where it does not scrape any of the episodes at all. I go with "show name - 1x01 - episode name.mkv" but I think the main problem lies within the show name itself. I already tried both sort orders, default and dvd, and neither fixed the problem.

2x2 = Shinobuden
TVDB: 84119

2x2 = Shinobuden - 1x01 - Shinobu, the Ninja Apprentice, Appears The Master Appears.mkv
2x2 = Shinobuden - 1x02 - Ninja, Enjoying a Cherry Blossom Party Shinobu, Date with Kaede.mkv
2x2 = Shinobuden - 1x03 - Onsokumaru, Getting Angry Shinobu, Running Away.mkv

Yeah - this one is identifying the episodes as season 2 (2x) - which presumably does not exist.

I cant think of any way that I could fix this, other than perhaps adding a check for the term '2x2 = Shinobuden' and removing it, its either that or rename the episodes to remove the 2x2 - if you have any other ideas then I would be happy to consider them.

Sunfizz98 if you replace the default MC regex's with the ones below MC will look right to left to find a match rather than left to right...

This worked flawlessly for the first eleven eps, but I the problem left over is when the episode name itself has 2x2 or [season]x[epnumber] such as the case now.

2x2 = Shinobuden - 1x12 - Onsokumaru`s Secret Farewell, 2x2=Shinobuden.mkv

As of now, I temporarily fixed the problem by removing the episode name and having media companion to rename the episode after it has scraped the file.

2x2 = Shinobuden - 1x12.mkv

My question is if there was a way for media companion to scrape the second iteration of [season]x[epnumber] rather than the first or last appearance of itself within the filename?

I'm not aware of a suitable regex but its not something I have researched greatly either....

You may be best to use a different season/episode identification scheme e.g. S01E01

That way it will find that first & never get to test with the 1x01 regex which is confusing the issue.
