i'd like to know the actual runtime of the files instead of the runtime listed on imdb. i know the media companion can get that info because it shows in the file details screen. anyway you can have it put that info into the nfo file automatically? this would be for both movies and tv shows. right now there's no runtime area for tv shows anywhere.

there's also a bug with this. the tv show overview has a spot for Runtime, but it's not being retrieved from the tvdb.

+1 for this request. IMDB returns some of the most random crap for movie length. I don't really care how long the romanian version of the movie is, I just want to know how long the version I have is! You could maybe set an option to use "file length" or "use IMDB" for movie run time.

+1 for sourcing the runtime from the actual file (Movies & TV shows) Smile

just as a confirmation, i put a <runtime></runtime> right after the <plot> in an nfo, and xbmc did read it correctly so it does work. now we just need billy to implement it. Very Happy

I've got my hands full at the moment. I have a list of things I want finished by christmas, and they are taking longer than I expected.

After that there are a whole host of ideas I will be looking at adding. With regards to the runtime, that would be easy enough to implement thanks to medianfo, but I was thinking why stop there.

Ultimately I would like to create an extended nfo format that includes much more than the current setup, why not create extra tags show bitrates, codecs, resolution, aspect ratio, subtitles etc.

XML is well suited for the purpose, and I think that a definition should be created that would store every possible aspect of the media and file.

Just to confuse the issue, It would be nice if over the next year or two an actual video containers was created that would hold all of this information, aswell as a poster and fanart, all in a single file.

aspect ratio might be nice, but probably wouldn't use much more than that.

i'd love to see runtime implemented soon though. right now i have to start a show to see how long it is (i don't want to start an hour long show when i'm not ready to commit that kind of time).

for now, i'll probably put it into the file by hand, i'm just worried about MC erasing the work i've done.
