Using 3.039, 569 movies but scans only 549???

Media search indicates 569 movies, but scans and displays 549 movies? I have added movies recently and I cant get MC to locate, add any nfo or anything to the relevant folders. I have been using MC for a fair while and I just cant figure out whats wrong. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the movies not being picked up when running a Media Search are in same folder has hundreds of other folders in a drive location.

A problem with some movies not been added has been fixed since 3.039,

Check out the announcements forum for the version 3.080.

If you still have issues could you give me the filename of an effected movie.

I have updated to the latest build and dpwnl;oaded the new imbd.dll. I am still having the same problem

I cant tell but I think possibly the folder.jpg isn't happening?? So I went into the Armageddon folder and deleted all the MC type files, done a rescan but nothing happened?

"Video TS.ifo" will not work since the "_" is missing

I deleted the settings folder and that didnt work. I moved the file to a different area and didnt work.

I have just created dummy files on the exact path shown below and it works as it is supposed to and scraped the correct movie including tbn and fanart.

I checked using file and folder modes, as well as using several different naming conventions.

Have you added "L:\My Movies(L)" To the folder list in the preferences?

I have to assume that you have, if so, then AFAIK the only thing that would stop it scraping is if MC cannot access the path for some reason, or since it could view previously created files that the path is read only.

To be honest, this has me stumped, if you can find any common factor for the missing films then please let me know.

I just noticed that some of the movies have scrapped the Video_TS.tbn & a Video_TS (MS Info document_ but the later has 0kb?? I am wondering if MS is missing these movies for this reason?? Also checked and some of the movies Fanart has been added but no folder.jpg?? I am assuming this is because maybe I had not ticked the box in preferences but thought I'd mention it.

Any ideas why a Video_TS Info document would be empty/blank???

Dont know what any of that means, but moving the file location still didn't change anything as far as scraping the movie, but when I moved it from the (L) drive location and done a Media Search it counted up to 568, 1 less than prior. I moved the file into the L:\Armageddon location and did the same again and it counted up to 569, so MC is finding the file & Location, for some reason it just doesnt like something. Same prob, it is scanning up to 569, but showing movie total of 549.

Stressing me, I know your probably over this issue but any other ideas, direction or things I could try to resolve?

Well it sounds to me like you may be misinterpreting what the search is listing. The number that it counts when you press media search, is not the number of movies it's the number of "FOLDERS" it finds. # of folders does not equal the number of movies and these numbers will rarely match.

I figured this out with my own collection, I only have 1 movie per folder and when I did a properties in Windows I was getting 129 folders, but MC was finding 130 folders so I'm thinking hey there is a movie folder missing.. but why doesn't MC see it. It seems that MC also counts the ROOT folder in the number as well which is why I had 129 folders with 129 movies but it was counting 130. Then I added a 2nd drive and sure enough, it added another "ghost" folder to the count during media search. Then I added some DVD movies not in ISO files and it was counting the AUDIO_TS folders as well as the Video_TS folder as well as the folder with the title they all fit in, so another 3 folders added to the count.

So I don't believe there is actually anything wrong, just that it is counting all the extra folders (AUDIO_TS, subs, other sub folders, as well as the root folder they are all stored in in this count) that are within your dur sructure. So in essence the count from media search will never = the # of movies it will always be out at least by 1(the root folder) unless all your movies are not in any folders at all and just all in the root and then the count will be 1(even if you have 1000 movies in it).

I am assuming it is something to do with my computer and some format or file naming issue, but I am doing nothing different now than I have been for ages and for some reason now scraping my new movie dumps seems to be of issue.

I have moved the movies in question to a different directory and then added that to the preferences but still it wont pick it up? I have even taken all of the movies folders out of the preferences and added the movie folder Armageddon only and still it isnt scraping, so I tried this with a couple of the others and the same thing, MC for some reason is not able to see or acknowledge the folder/s??

I have update to the latest builds and added the new IMBD.dll to the mix but no luck.

MC not logging doesn't help but you may (probably will) catch the issue by monitoring the process with the sysinternals tool "process monitor".

Can you try creating a dummy file & testing that using a different format for movies than what you are currently using....

Create a new folder say "TEST"

add that folder to the preferences in MC

In that folder create a new text document

Rename that document Armageddon.avi

Get MC to check for new movies......

This will test if the Armageddon movie can be found & scraped properly or not & may assist in working out the exact issue.

Do As Stormy Knight says, I also has some problems once with some movies not scraping a few versions back. They were movies I downloaded and they had spaces in the filenames, I replaced the spaces with .'s and they scraped fine, I also seemed to have problems with a couple movies that had no spaces but had the word DVD5 in the title, I removed that one word from the filename and it scraped.

So if you just rename it to movietitle.avi with no spaces, special chars, groups names etc etc, it should scrap and you can find the problem easier.

I made up a file called TEST and inserted a file called Misery.avi and no go. I then went into a few of my other movies and removed all the MC generated files and tried a Media Scan and rebuild but it didnt scrape and as far as MC was concerned it no longer existed, and when I put the files back it was back in the MC Database.

I renamed my drives and that changed nothing as far as scraping.

I put some files in a whole other drive and added to the preferences in MC and it wouldnt scan them in?

I disabled my firewall to see if it was that and no go.

I am stumped??

I am assuming that the security on my folders is correct or none of the folders would get into MC, or am I assuming wrong?

Could it be the way I backed up the DVD? I use DVDfab and dump as vobs, but I havent had any problems at all before??

I went back to an older version and it picked up 4 more movies than the current version but those scraped came back with (0000) beside the folder name, and no movie info showed on MC only thumbnail of movie.

Could someone post some pics of the preferences and things they are using if that are having no probs, maybe my setup in there is causing the problem, I dont think so but have played with them so much ya never know.

I am still having this issue and have updated to latest version. Please does anyone have any ideas to get working.

I'll add a log to the scraper for the next release.

See if we can't get to the bottom of this.

I've just found an issue with regards to files that have .rar subs included that causes them not to scrape

eg
Moviename.avi
moviename.rar

This would not scrape if the rar is below the preferences set size. This has been fixed for the next version, aswell as a log being added.

Much appreciated. I don't have any of the rar files mentioned in any of my movie files so that cant be my issue.

This program is awesome and it sucks going through XBMC to download Movie Information, slow and drives me nuts.

I updated to the latest build and completed a scan, it showed all the files/folders as per my preferences then at the bottom of the log I got this

That helps considerably, it narrows down this issue to a very small section of code (About 20 lines)

I will add some ultra detailed logging to that section and upload it to this thread just for you

It's no different from 3.098, but its got some extra logging with relation to the problem your having.

I also noticed that the loop where the error is was not handling the exception, this meant that the whole scraper was quitting, meaning that the problem may be with a single movie.

Please give me details of the log after you have run it.

Are you absolutely sure that every one of your movies has been added, it's just that an issue with a single movie would not have stopped it scraping the rest.

I just want to be certain that the issue is gone.

Other than that, I will not change the code again, future builds should be fine.

I am 100% sure. I went through and totalled up all the file/folders and 100% accurate.
