New Release Media Companion gen2 3.217

Finally time for a new build, this has taken a few weeks longer than I would have liked, I was dreading changing the preferences, and it was every bit as tedious as I thought it would be, it was made even worse by the addition of a save button, as requested.

It is reccommended that all settings and cache files are deleted when first running this build. previous builds "tvcache.xml" file in particular is likely to cause an exception.

Changes for new version 3.217

• Changed - Preferences system has been completely changed, gone is the seperate preferences, instead each section has an appropriate tab, general, movies, and tv.
  
  
• Changed - The way folders are added has also been changed, the movie and tv sections each has a tab devoted to folders. The TV Section in particular has some nice added features, such as the ability to add root folders, then have MC add folders from this root. You can force MC to check for new shows in your roots by selecting "Check Roots for new TV Shows" menu item, in the drop down "TV Shows" menu.
  
  
• New - When adding using the above method, TV Shows will now be automatically scraped from TVDB according to the preferences you have set, using the Folder name as the search string, the first available show returned from TVDB will be scraped. The shows will be added locked, and a dialogue displayed when trying to scrape episodes or unlock.
  
  
• Changed - When adding and removing folders only a partial rebuild now takes place, adding or removing only those items effected. (TV and Movies)
  
  
• New - Manual Filters are now in place for identifying missing art for tv shows/episodes.
  
  
• New - For ongoing TV Shows, if an episode is added to a season that has no season poster, MC will attempt to download one.
  
  
• New - Multiple title support for movies, just select the alternative title via the drop down list and select scrape, alternative titles will be obtained when movies are scraped or rescraped.
  
  
• Changed - The layout has changed a little.
  
  
• Changed - Media Companion now supports episode and season numbers upto 9999 (For those few shows that use the year for season number), regex needs to be added to enable this.
  

There are lots of other small changes for this build and bugfixes, and I apologise in advance if you have reported a bug and it has not been addressed, i've just had my hands full with the changes. I intend to spend the next few weeks on a bug bash, so please bump unresolved issues, and report new issues.

Thanks for the new version. Great to see the progress your making.

I've hit a bug almost straight away. I put MC into a new folder and added only a couple of tv shows to begin with, and looking at a episode I got this



As you can see in the episode thumb window, MC isn't switching from Show info to episode info correctly, but showing episode info in the thumb window.

Hope this is explained ok.

Just another bug, or more an annoyance.

I added all the rest of my shows in to MC, they all have the status as locked. I have to click on status button to change to open on every single TV Show.

Now, I've just attempted this again, deleting the settings folder, started MC as fresh, then added Root folder, now everythings alright. Doe this build of MC add/change the tvshows.nfo?

Still, If you have 50 or more shows, you really don't want to have to click each show to unlock it.

Edit: Looking at a before and after tvshow.nfo, I see you've changed from " <locked>false</locked> " to "<locked>0</locked>", maybe an option to check for either when first-time starting this version of MC?

And a request please. Right-click an episode option to allow re-scrape that particular episode, or even just on a season folder. This is very helpful when there is no info loaded at 'thetvdb'. For me, I'll go and enter the info, then have to delete the nfo's and rebuild TVDatabase, then search for new episodes again.

Apart from those few things, It's looking great! Love the folder tab
