Media Companion V3.230 Garbage NFO contents

I got some strange results running this version.

Many of the NFO files contained this text, even though the text has nothing to do with the movie being scraped:
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards (2010)

All the data stored in these spurious NFOs contained data relevant to 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards (2010)', but curiously, the Runtime field varied in each case, although I didn't verify if these runtimes corresponded to the correct runtimes of the movie being scraped.

Is this a known bug or did I do something stupid? First time I ran MC so...

I'm using Win XP with service pack 3 and Media Companion gen2 3.230

This is definately a title search issue, the data is being scraped from this 'http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1541775/'

The only thing to do is narrow down the cause. To do this could you answer a few questions for me,

What is the full path and filename of the movie that is returning this result,

Are you using the 'Search for new movies' tab, or drag and drop.

Hopefully this will allow me to duplicate the issue, and fix it.

Bit more info on this bug:

1. For the movie listed above, the runtime info was correct, but obviously the rest of the data referring to 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards (2010)' was not correct.
Seems like CM is getting hold of some incorrect data somehow. Uninitialized variable? Previously used variable being reused and containing old data? Following a wrong link somehow?

Seems like the bug has existed since at least 3.19x according to this, and possibly before:

Here is the log data for the scrape:

From this, it appears as if CM failed to find the movie in IMDB.
This being the case, it seems that the output of the program is incorrect, as IMHO it should just create a report of movies it failed to identify, rather than create dummy NFOs etc containing spurious unrelated data, i.e. data relating to 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards (2010)', in this case.

Further info:

1. I did 'Search for new movies' tab
2. The name of the scaped movie was: 'M:\movies\Being_john_malkovich.avi'

Initial scrape output:
Filename is: M:\movies\Being_john_malkovich.avi
Title according to settings is: "Being_john_malkovich"

From this, I can see that perhaps I should have the year as part of the movie name to help identification, yes? Maybe that would help the recognition process.

OK, i've been able to spot the problem, and it's related to the imdb search.

It's gonna take me a little while to track down the issue thats causing this, the logic I used when searching IMDB is a little convoluted and will likely take a bit of detective work to fix, there will be a new build by the weekend, and i'll make sure its fixed by then.

Most people will not be effected since the first 50 scrapes are performed by google and not IMDB. Only those scraping more than 50 in a MC session will encounter this problem.
